La Cité Bleue is honoured to host the second edition of the Radu Lupu Prize, a tribute to the legendary Romanian pianist who passed away in 2022. This edition is particularly significant, as 30 November 2025 would have marked the 80th birthday of this exceptional performer.
Renowned for his deeply introspective and poetic approach, Radu Lupu made his mark on the history of classical music with his inimitable interpretations of works by Beethoven, Schubert and Brahms. His playing, with its rare expressive intensity, influenced several generations of musicians and won him an admiring audience around the world.
The first edition of the Radu Lupu Prize has already highlighted the young pianist Vsevolod Zavidov, whose musical sensitivity and quest for authenticity resonate with the master's legacy. Supported by the Radu Lupu Foundation, this prize has an essential objective: to support the creativity and artistic development of emerging talents, thus perpetuating the generous and visionary spirit of the pianist.
During this second edition, the winner selected by the Radu Lupu Foundation will perform in a recital that promises to be a vibrant tribute to one of the greatest performers of the 20th century.
