Alfonsina

In this sunny concert, Mariana Flores pays tribute to the women of Latin America and depicts their loves, sorrows and joys in music with popular songs from Argentina. She pays special tribute to Alfonsina Storni, the great Argentine poet of the early 20th century, whose work left its mark on Latin American literature and inspired many songs, including the unforgettable Alfonsina y el mar by Mercedes Sosa. Quito Gato, who arranged the music, accompanies her on piano and guitar, with Romain Lecuyer on double bass, introducing the audience to so3me of Argentina's most beautiful songs.

FILMAR

The screening of Christoph Kühn’s documentary Alfonsina, presented as part of the 27th edition of FILMAR en América Latina, will mark the launch of a new cycle at La Cité Bleue, conceived at the crossroads of cinema and music.

This first event will be followed by a meeting with the artists and a tribute concert to Alfonsina Storni, a leading figure in modern Latin American poetry, as well as two other screenings of films selected from the festival programme. Their titles will be announced during the official presentation of the 27th edition of FILMAR.

FILMAR is Switzerland’s most important festival dedicated to Latin American cinema. Each year, it highlights works that question the contemporary realities of the continent, while giving voice to a wide variety of narratives, aesthetics and points of view.

By hosting three iconic films from this new edition,

La Cité Bleue is partnering with FILMAR to offer the Geneva public a sensitive and multifaceted look at these still largely overlooked film industries. These screenings will be an opportunity to discover life stories and intimate human landscapes, driven by creative approaches deeply rooted in history and current events.

This cycle is also a nod to the history of La Cité Bleue, which was the birthplace of the Journées cinématographiques, the film festival that gave rise to the Centre d’Animation Cinématographique, which later became the Cinémas du Grütli. By reconnecting with this memory today, La Cité Bleue is affirming its role as a place of dialogue between the arts and reaffirming its commitment to an open and lively programme.
