Her name was Eunice Waymon, but she became Nina Simone. Blessed with dazzling talent and an unwavering passion for the piano, she dreamed of becoming a classical concert pianist. Despite her abilities, her dream was never to be, as she was refused entry to the Curtis Institute in Philadelphia because she was black.
Nina Simone never gave up the piano, which accompanied her voice forever in the fight against racism. Her music, embodying rebellion against injustice, made her one of the most iconic singers of the 20th century.
Singer Vanessa Horowitz pays her a heartfelt tribute with the FanfareduLoup: because Nina Simone cannot be described, she must be listened to.
