The goal of this venue is to promote the creation of performances that bring together leading artists from the fields of music, theater, dance, visual arts, and the circus. At the intersection of these disciplines, a broader humanistic vision seeks to place interdisciplinary exchanges between the arts and the humanities at the heart of the project. Completely renovated with contemporary facilities tailored to the needs of artists, the brand-new venue is equipped with acoustic technology—the Constellation system, unique in Switzerland—which enables the exploration and experimentation of new sonic and artistic possibilities.
Under the auspices of the Cité Bleue Foundation, the position of artistic director has been entrusted to the Swiss-Argentine harpsichordist and conductor Leonardo García-Alarcón. The decision to appoint such a prominent performing artist to lead an arts institution is quite unique.
Throughout the seasons, La Cité Bleue presents musical theater, chamber operas, chamber music recitals, educational activities, dance, and circus arts, as well as hybrid forms that take an innovative approach to these disciplines. The programming at La Cité Bleue, conceived by Leonardo García-Alarcón and his team, is ambitious and innovative, nourished and inspired by encounters, artistic practice, and interdisciplinary exploration of the worlds of art.
