The vitality of Baroque folk music in South America is revealed in the Codex Martinez Compañon: the rich and varied collection of themes spans a joyful spectrum ranging from the sacred to the secular, set to texts in Spanish and sometimes in indigenous languages such as Quechua. Leonardo García Alarcón presents these festive pieces in a unique style that reflects the harmonious fusion of Spanish rhythms and Native American colors.
