What if bagpipes, binions, and bombards were the perfect instruments for performing Philip Glass’s music? That is the bold and fascinating premise of this unique show.
With *8 SONNEURS* for Philip Glass, the legendary repertoire of the American composer—a pioneer of minimalist music—takes on a whole new dimension: his four iconic pieces written in 1969 (*Two Pages*, *Music in Fifths*, *Music in Contrary Motion*, *Music in Similar Motion*) are reinterpreted here by traditional Breton musicians.
The result? A striking sonic alchemy in which the richness of the timbres, the continuous resonance of the drones, and the spatialization of the sound transform the listening experience. Glass’s music becomes a living, vibrant, almost hypnotic force; and this proves that Philip Glass’s spirit resonates just as powerfully in the vibrations of a drone as it does in the chips of a synthesizer.
