The power of the orchestra at the keyboard
An entire orchestra in a single instrument: with this program of transcriptions, the piano becomes a spectacular playground, capable of bringing forth soundscapes of unexpected richness.
From the suspended atmosphere of the Prelude to the Afternoon of a Faun to the searing energy of The Rite of Spring, via the enchanting landscapes of Daphnis and Chloe, these three ballets commissioned by Diaghilev are reinvented here under the pianists’ fingers. Whether as a duo, four-handed, or on two pianos, they reveal a new facet: more direct, more physical, almost incandescent.
Gathered around Cédric Pescia, students and faculty from the Geneva University of Music share the stage in a vibrant, collective format, where the energy of teaching meets the demands of a concert. Listening, camaraderie, and commitment become the driving forces behind an intense musical experience, where every gesture counts.
Conceived as a moment of sharing as much as of performance, this project spotlights a new generation of young performers, while offering the audience a unique way to hear these masterpieces. A gripping immersion, where the piano becomes an orchestra, and where the music takes on a dimension that is both intimate and spectacular.
