The Highs and Lows of Italian Baroque
In March 2023, La Cité Bleue took over the lobby of Building D at the Cité Universitaire in Geneva for its first concert: a powerful, groundbreaking debut led by Leonardo García-Alarcón and Cappella Mediterranea. Three years later, *Roma* returns as a living memory: a memory of a burst of energy, a shared artistic adventure, and a city envisioned through its sacred music.
Conceived as a grand oratorio, the program traverses the splendor of Roman polyphony, alternating between legendary masterpieces and striking rarities. For this sacred fresco, the Constellation system transforms the sound space of La Cité Bleue into the Sistine Chapel, unfolding the polyphonic lines of Gregorio Allegri’s famous “Miserere” in a chiaroscuro of overwhelming intensity. Alongside him, Alessandro Scarlatti, Luigi Rossi, and Giovanni Giorgi complete this musical panorama of a Baroque, theatrical, and mystical Rome.
Under the inspired direction of Leonardo García-Alarcón, the solo voices and the Namur Chamber Choir engage in dialogue with Cappella Mediterranea, bringing to life the fervor, shadows, and light of the Eternal City. Roma is not just a concert: it is a return to the roots of La Cité Bleue, and a renewed affirmation of our artistic identity.
