rebelde hasta los huesos
A leading figure in Peruvian Andean music, Flor Pucarina (1935–1987), nicknamed ‘La Faraona del Cantar Huanca’, brought the voice and culture of the Andes to the stages of Peru with rare intensity. A free-spirited woman and an extraordinary personality, she defied the conventions of her time and left a profound mark on Peruvian popular music.
In Flor Pucarina, rebelde hasta los huesos, director Geraldine Zuasnabar brings this artist back to life through her music, archive footage – some of which has never been seen before – and the testimonies of those who knew her or whom she continues to inspire. The documentary paints a portrait not only of a rebellious and determined woman, but also of a Peru shaped by migration, Andean identities and the need to give a voice to those who have long been marginalised.
This screening is part of a collaboration between FILMAR en América Latina and La Cité Bleue, which, over the course of a weekend, brings together cinema and music to explore Latin American cultures. It will be followed at 7.30 pm by Vuelvo al Sur, a recital by the Franco-Peruvian pianist Loïc Vallaeys: a single evening offering a journey into the heart of Latin America’s memories, rhythms and musical landscapes.
